PeoplePress
A community platform for WordPress, built as a core plugin with modules and addons.
This area is still changing. Steps and screenshots may lag behind the current release.
PeoplePress turns a WordPress site into a community: member profiles, connections between members, groups, an activity stream, private messages, and the moderation tools needed to keep all of it civil.
The current release is 1.0.0-alpha, so screens and behaviour are still moving. Pages marked as changing say so at the top.
How the platform is organised
The core plugin ships twelve modules, each owning one part of the community:
| Module | What it provides |
|---|---|
user | Member accounts as PeoplePress sees them, and member directories. |
profile | Profile fields, profile screens, avatars and covers. |
connection | Connections between members. |
group | Groups and group membership. |
activity | The activity stream. |
message | Private messages between members. |
notifications | In-app notifications. |
moderation | Reporting and moderation of member content. |
media | Member-uploaded media. |
invitation | Invitations to join the community. |
signup | Registration and account activation. |
search | Search across community content. |
Anything beyond that list is an addon — a separate plugin that registers its own module against the same lifecycle. That is why the addon documentation looks and behaves like the core documentation: it is the same extension model.
