StorageCloud
Multi-cloud media storage for WordPress — offload the media library to Amazon S3 or Google Cloud Storage.
This area is still changing. Steps and screenshots may lag behind the current release.
StorageCloud moves the WordPress media library off the web server and into cloud object storage, then serves the files from there. The plugin describes itself as a multi-cloud media storage solution: the storage backend is a choice, not a fixed dependency on one provider.
It is a standalone WordPress plugin. It does not require any community plugin, and nothing on this page assumes one is installed.
Why offload media at all
Two reasons, and they pull in different directions:
- Disk and durability. A busy media library outgrows a single server's disk, and object storage is replicated in ways a single volume is not.
- Delivery. Files served from object storage, optionally behind a CDN, do not consume PHP workers or web-server bandwidth.
The trade-off is that the media library is no longer a folder you can inspect over SSH, and a misconfigured bucket policy becomes a site-wide broken-image event rather than a single 404.

Autoloader, Bootstrapper, and Installer. Enumerate the provider modules in
src/ before publishing a list here.
Pages planned for this section
Requirements, installation, connecting Amazon S3, connecting Google Cloud Storage, and offloading an existing media library.
StorageCloud is a StoragePress product and is documented here only until it has its own site. Pages in this section deliberately avoid linking into PeoplePress documentation so the section can move without rewriting.
